The NVZ Itzling (Local Supply Center), located in the northern area of the city of Salzburg, serves as a prominent urban gateway and makes a significant architectural statement within the urban context. With its expressive design language and the strategic rotation of its structure along the street lines, the building harmoniously integrates into the existing cityscape, while simultaneously setting a distinct urban accent.

The design of the building emerged from an architectural competition held by the Raiffeisen Association, which was won by architect Johannes Schallhammer in collaboration with the architectural firm Lechner & Lechner, and realized through the ARGE L - S - S (Lechner, Schallhammer, Scheicher) partnership. The design of the Itzling Local Supply Center operates on multiple urban planning levels: on the ground floor, the almost 200-meter-long glazed facade along Raifeisenstraße reflects the dynamic traffic flow, creating a visual connection between the building and its urban surroundings.

On the first floor, a publicly accessible landscaped terrace, featuring 40 trees and over 2.000 additional plants, provides a green retreat that fits into the industrial area like an oasis. This rooftop garden also functions as a connecting element, linking the building´s entrances with the adjacent pedestrian and bicycle paths, establishing a direct connection to the neighboring Goethesiedlung. The building´s landscape tier seamlessly integrates the project into the surrounding topography, becoming a permanent part of the urban environment. The green slope toward Goethesiedlung visuallly  extends the building.

The upper office floors, characterized by three-dimensionally tilted facade elements, enhace the dynamic form of the structure and accentuate the visual axes from the surrounding streets. The careful selection of high-quality materials and the precise detailing of the facades emphasize the architectural focus of the building in its urban context.
